about your story

This is our favorite part of the website. It’s an opportunity for us to brag about the talented athletes we have in our region—both young and old. Much like the front of your refrigerator at home, we want everyone to know how proud we are of your accomplishments, so we have dedicated this page to you. Please call or email us with your story. It doesn’t have to be a huge story, just an accomplishment that you are proud of. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it. Every month we will highlight one of these stories and reward you with a special gift from us. Nothing fancy, but a way for us to tell you good job—we’re proud of you

Your Story

For the month of November, Stewart’s is proud to announce that Kelli Klun has been chosen as our first ever Your Story Athlete of the Month! Kelli attends Duluth East High School as a junior.

Although Kelli plays several sports, soccer is her passion. Kelli started playing soccer at the age of 4, when she played for the Lakeside/Lester Park teams. A driven athlete, she excelled at an early age and when she turned ten, began playing on the Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club. Dave Reyelts, Head Coach of the Woman’s team at the College of St. Scholastica and Kelli’s current Gitchi Coach, has nothing but praise for Kelli: “I have coached Kelli for the last 6 years on our Gitchi Gummi team.

Kelli usually plays center midfield for us, but is dangerous as a forward and excellent as a defender.  Kelli is a hard working player with a tremendous drive to be successful.  She plays a physical, intelligent brand of soccer that makes her an appealing player at any level of play!” Kelli’s Varsity Coach, Cara Overland, is equally as impressed: “Kelli currently plays sweeper, although her abilities and strength of play allow her to be a threat at any position when needed. She’s a three sport varsity athlete (Basketball, Softball and Soccer), has a GPA in the high 3’s, and is a very solid player-probably our most versatile player on the field. She’s got a great attitude as well as a great sense of the game.”

Congratulations Kelli, you deserve the praise. We want you to know how proud our community is of you, and what a great job you are doing on and off the field.  Keep up the hard work, and believe in your dreams!
